Life Sciences and Biotechnology

We plan to foster future-oriented, high-quality human resources and become a world’s top 50-level college and graduate school by 2010. To further this goal, we carry out exchange programs with such esteemed institutions as the MIT, the NIH, University of California, Davis, and the NAIST. We also offer a joint MA program with George Mason University in Washington, D.C. and network with many Korean biotechnology companies. In addition, we participate in internship programs with foreign industries and research institutes, including Sartorius and Fraunhofer in Germany and TissueGen in the USA, and plan to add two more American companies to the list. We also send students to international conferences and seminars and encourage students and researchers from other countries to visit and work with us. Finally, we have accumulated a KRW 202.0 billion fund to open a research institute and establish an international specialist’s program.

This course is designed to provide a foundation of econometric analysis, with an emphasis on economic applications. Topics include estimation and statistical inference in regression models.
We begin with the standard regression model, and derive the properties of the estimators–validity and efficiency. We will then relax assumptions one by one and explore how these properties can be restored.
